    Summary

A double degree‌ allows you to study for two degrees at the same time. You will graduate with two different bachelor degrees, giving you career flexibility and different opportunities. For those who have interests in diverse areas, a double degree can broaden your skill set, provide complementary and enhanced knowledge and give you the flexibility to work in a number of different disciplines and industries when you graduate.

    Qualification structure and duration

Double degrees usually take a couple of years longer than a normal, three to four year bachelor's degrees. For example, a double degree may take five to six years, while it would take seven or eight years to complete two individual degrees studied separately.

You may enrol in two degrees at the same time and cross-credit up to a maximum of 120 points. Certain combinations of degrees do allow additional cross-credits or exemptions.

BA students can also select courses from other degrees that count as a credit towards a Bachelor of Arts degree (but not towards their major/minor subject): Antarctic Studies, Astronomy, Biological Sciences, Biosecurity, Communication Disorders, Computer Science, Criminal Justice, Geology, Health Sciences, Law, Physics.

    Bachelor of Health Sciences

The Bachelor of Health Sciences (BHSc) is a non-clinical degree designed to address gaps in the health workforce by producing graduates with multidisciplinary skills and an understanding of important national health issues. New Zealand's health and disability sector is characterised by a diverse workforce made up of many occupations. This diversity is essential to be able to provide the range of services required to meet population health outcomes. The BHSc at UC is ideal preparation to equip students to work within the many non-clinical areas of health, health management and health care. You will gain multidisciplinary skills and insights that are highly valued in the health workforce. Health Sciences graduates work in settings such as district health boards, government ministries, local government, non-government organisations, Maori health providers, aged residential care, schools, primary care organisations, universities and polytechnics.
