Art and design come together in an interdisciplinary environment. Study majors in graphic design, visual art and fashion design!
Bachelor of Creative Industries is all about teaching you the diverse range of skills required by the creative workplace.
You’ll learn from some of New Zealand’s most talented artists, fashion designers and leading industry experts, and 'learn by doing' in connected learning spaces that support creativity and collaboration.
Real-world outcomes ensure our graduates are what industry demands – employees who are able to communicate and collaborate to provide excellent outcomes across a wide range of creative industries.
Available Majors
Visual Art (VA) Explore a range of 2D technologies in painting, drawing, printmaking and process image. Experiment with 3D construction techniques and technologies utilising a range of media. Move onto digital technologies and installation practice to test unique exhibition presentation methods.
Graphic Design (GD) Gain a solid foundation in design. Work collaboratively in teams to create client briefs and develop unique solutions to a range of real world problems including branding, illustration, packaging or photography. Advance your software skills and then extend them in the second and third year to encompass new fields such as digital illustration, moving image, animation and studio practice.
Fashion Design (FD) Create, design, innovate. See your ideas come to fruition on the runway, in wardrobe and costume. Learn techniques associated with your designs.

Employment in the creative industries as individual practitioners, sole traders, contractors or employees within the following industries:
Visual Arts Careers: multimedia, painting, printmaking, sculpture, installation, exhibition, performance, design, arts administration, art dealing/hiring, arts consultancy, marketing, tourism, arts events and festivals.
Graphic Design Careers: advertising, web design, illustration, digital applications, animation, gaming, publication, photography, branding, marketing and identity, product packaging and industrial design.
Fashion and Textiles Careers: design, technician, sample machinist, pattern engineer, production, buyer, retailing, costume, quality control, wardrobe and textile design.

Entry criteria
To gain entry into this programme, you must meet the following criteria:
BCI applicants are required to submit a portfolio when they apply for the programme. The portfolio will show 10 recent art and/or design works together with a statement discussing your ideas and intentions.
English Language requirements:
IELTS Academic score of 6.0 with no band score lower than 5.5; TOEFL Internet-based Test (iBT) score of 60 or higher (with a writing score of 20); TOEFL Paper-based test (pBT) score of 550 (with an essay score of 5.0 TWE); FCE, FCE for schools, CAE with a score of 169, no less than 162 in each skill; NZCEL of Level 4 with the Academic endorsement; PToE (Academic) score of 50.
